The Challenge

The Fox River Valley for the last 150 years has been building the fastest yachts on earth.

Think you have a faster boat than Miss Wisconsin?

Well...Prove it!!!

For the past 50 years numerous ice boaters have been claiming they are sailing at 120-150 mph. Every year it's the same old B.S. With all those hot boats out there, where are the challengers?

If you want to make money for a charity of your choice, come race us. We will be testing our boat on Lake Winnebago and waiting for you.

If you know of a better three square miles of good ice, we will go there. This challenge also goes for all of you hot dog land sailors. Call me and I will meet you on the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. (Racing on Lake Ivenpah is for girly men and slow yachts(J/K)...it's too small)

  1. Simple wind power, no stored energy for propulsion. Batteries for navigation and communication will be allowed.
  2. Course: The mark, the judges and press are in the center of a nine square mile area with a 1/4 mile safety border.
  3. Wind: must average at least 20 m.p.h. for the contest to start. The race shall not be cancelled because of high winds unless all contestants agree.
  4. Contest duration: one hour will determine the winner. The one hour time will be devided into average speeds every 10 minutes. The fastest average speed for any 10 minute period will determine the winner. GPS average speeds, on board, will be verified by the judges.
  5. The rules of right-away will follow the guidelines of the Northwest Ice Yachting Association.
  6. Ice has to be sailable and strong enough to support the judges and their vehicles in the center of the course.
  7. The competition will be a timed start: 10 min, 5 min, and 30 sec. to start with a duration of one hour. In this time, repairs on boat or sail changes may be made.
  8. GPS ,mounted in the boat by the judges will be the same brand and model, and a flip of the coin will determine which GPS is in the which boat. If more than two boats are racing we will draw out of a hat for the GPS's.

We will put up our pledges against your pledges to be given to the favorite charity of the winner.*

* When we win we will give the prize to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International.
